Pastoral Succession Planning Announcement and Qualifications

Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, a vibrant Christ centered congregation with a rich history of 99 years of faithful ministry. Our current pastor will be retiring within the next two years, and we are preparing for a smooth and Spirit-led transition in leadership. Located in Twin Oaks PA, we are prayerfully preparing for a season of pastoral succession. We are seeking qualified and spirit-led candidates to explore the call to serve as our next lead pastor as part of our intentional and

prayerful succession plan. This process allows times for mentorship, shared leadership and a smooth transition that honors God our current pastor and congregation.

Role Overview

This is a part-time position; The incoming Assistant Pastor will work closely with the current senior pastor and leadership team during a defined transition period ( approximately 6-9 months) before assuming full time Senior Pastor leadership responsibilities. The Assistant

Pastor is recommended by the Planning Succession Committee and elected by the congregation. The Church Leadership team will negotiate compensation based on education, experience and

skills. A background check will also be required for this position,

Candidate Qualifications

We are seeking a pastor who has:

  •  A clearly demonstrated call to pastoral ministry.
  •  Aligned with our statement of faith and core values.
  •  Minimum of five years of pastoral or ministry leadership experience.
  •  Values intergenerational ministry, especially with youth and young adults.
  •  A commitment to community engagement and evangelism.
  •  Theological training

            (preferably a degree from an accredited seminary or divinity school).

  •  Strong communication, relational, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities


  •  Preaching and teaching Biblical grounded relevant messages.
  •  Leading staff and ministry leaders and vision and mission alignment.
  •  Shepherding the congregation through spiritual growth and community engagement.
  •  Providing oversight into ministry programs and pastoral care.


Timeline

  • We are currently building a list of prospective candidates as part of our long-term succession
  • planning. This is not an immediate vacancy but an intentional, prayerful process to ensure
  • continuity and health in leadership.
